Interesting video of the next generation Intel Classmate Laptops

I'm looking forward to find out the pricing on these laptops. Intel expects the new Classmate to be available from OEMs by early- to mid- Q2 of 2010. The 9″ models, however, will be discontinued by the middle of this year owing to discontinued parts from ODMs and suppliers. Although the features are considerably expanded from previous generations, Intel’s goal was to keep prices similar and prices should only increase by $10-20 for a base model. Of course, the newly available options (high-resolution screen, 250GB hard drive, GPS, 3G wireless, and Windows 7 Professional) will drive prices closer to full laptops.

Testing out a cheap VDI

Commenting on Christoper Dawson's post at ZDNet Education (@ http://education.zdnet.com/?p=3702&tag=col1;post-3702 ).

We've been using NComputing x350 for about three months now. Originally we were planning to purchase three computers for our teachers use as a community PC. The use of these PCs are mostly for; report card, microsoft office use, and web browsing/research. I've researched a better & cheaper way so we can save on our limited budget this year and I decided to go ahead and test out NComputing x350. When installing the NComputing software, be sure to download it straight from NComputing support site, don't use the CD that comes with it. I experienced some issues at the early stage of installation especially when I update Windows XP SP3. And also make sure that the automatic update is set to "manual" as it might have some issue with the newer MS updates. We also use VirtualBox running Windows Server 2003 on one of our Mac server. As for now, all of these VDI environment works marvelously and being backed up by Microsoft Data Protection Manager.

I might buy more x350 for the above use, but not for more heavy admin & student's multimedia use.
